Yaten Kou's page! Yaten is the oldest of the Starlights and often very cinical and destinces herself from others. While on Earth, Luna, Usagi's cat takes a liking to the Yaten and is noted "heavy eyed like a girlfriend" by Minako. Here's some info on Yaten:
Yaten Kou (female), Juuban High, grade 10, class 1,
age 16, blood type B. Club: Returning home.
Born 2/8 (same as James Dean), Aquarius.
Super dark-natured, super jerk, super egotist
(especially her face). She's a fashion model.
She has never carried anything heavier than chopsticks.
Injuring her face or body is the most unpleasant thing
for her.
Super delicate, super wily, super nervous, super
grudge-holding type.
She has no interest in girls (even though she is a
girl).
Boasts a weight of 38 kg.
If she doesn't sleep 13 hours a day, her body doesn't
hold up.
Earrings are emerald.
Yaten is the mostly girly of the three lights even after gaining a male body on Earth. She says in her poem she doesn't care what happens to Earth at all or the humans on it. She doesn't trust anyone but her allies. During the series, it's obvious Yaten has a sixith sense in 173 when Mamoru's star seed is gone Yaten stops playing the guritar and says "another shine just disappeared." and says the same thing in 197. She also seems to know how to push peoples buttons such as in 178 saying when she won't reply to the love letters and in 192 when Minako is going for her dream!
Yaten, unlike Taiki and Seiya doesn't have a favorite club. Her favorite thing to do however is photography but it's never shown in the anime at all. She does take a liking to Luna as Luna does back. Minako in 178 is jealous of Luna who gets to enjoy sleeping with Yaten, taking a bath with her and sleeping with her. She gets a nose bleed showing she had perverted thoughts.
Yaten also doesn't like working with strangers such as in 180 before playing with Michiru on stage she says, "I don't like playing a joint concert with a stranger." She and Seiya often don't get along. She and Seiya can only agree maybe twice through the whole series. In my opinion, Yaten doesn't find a lot of stuff funny. She only laughs twice and the first time is in 187 when Usagi can't play baseball and 200 when Usagi doesn't understand Seiya's feelings. Therefore, I see her a little emotionless.
I do like all the Starlights though. Yaten is also Sailor Star Healer, her attack is "Star Sensitive Inferno!" however, on her character sheet other attacks are listed by never used in the anime.
In the anime I think Yaten takes a liking to Minako, such as in 184 when it seems just about EVERYONE is at Usagi's and Minako doesn't want to discard one of her cards, she says she will if Yaten goes on a date with her. Yaten doesn't answer but however, tries to take the cards away. Another episode is 192, where Yaten questions the will if she, Taiki and Seiya have lost the ability to dream beyond their mission as a solider. She thinks they're missing something to find their princess Minako says they arent she even says, "You're not lacking anything. Yaten, you shine brighter than anyone else." Which Yaten takes it to heart and later Usagi hopes that Minako wins the audition but says she judges rather harshly and Yaten then says, "however you shrined brighter than everyone else."
A similar small moment also occurs in 183 when the 5 friends go camping. Minako is clinging to Yaten and saying "Yaten, protect me!" Yaten doesn't say she won't protect her but doesn't mind that Minako is still clinging to her.
Yaten seemed rather rude to Usagi as Taiki was. She didn't want Usagi to be around Seiya but in 198, when the Starlights are talking about believing in Sailor Moon Healer says "I guess I do, too." I think Maker and Fighter fully believend her but Healer was still sort of wondering if not to believe her. In 199 however she says "A girl with such a bright light isn't supposed to disappear!" I think then Healer finally believed in Sailor Moon to her full extent. Before finding her princess, she didn't believe in her at all...in her poem there is a line saying "if we had her by our side we wouldn't need to relie on the solar soliders or Sailor Moon's power either." This must've been before the final battle.
Yaten in the manga, just like Seiya and Taiki cross-dresses as a male. From what I've read, Yaten or Taiki aren't as "holding Seiya" back from Usagi. Yaten explains more about the Solar system after Usagi's friends Sailor Crystals were taken. She explains that everything in the living universe has a star seed.
Near the end of the series, Yaten and Usagi or Healer and Sailor Moon however you want to state it is on good terms.
