Are The Starlights Male Or Female?
This is a common question concering the three lights/sailor starlights. To answer your question yes, they are female. People often mistaken them for men due to fact when they detransform they have male bodies. In the anime, when coming to Earth from Kinmoku they gained male bodies to find their princess Kakyuu. Including Naoko states "Only soliders can be woman." And she was uspet when the Three Lights were made men and went back to their original gender when transforming.
In 189, Usagi is sitting in Crown with Minako, Makoto and Ami. Minako states after Makoto said they won't come to school she says "It's shocking the three lights are girls. It's like my love has disappeared!" (This is after 188 when their identies were discovered). In the same episode the Three Lights are at a radio show and in the crowd Seiya notices Usagi..Seiya reads off a card that Usagi requested the song shooting stars and the two have a private moment where it seems as if Seiya is using a telephic power to talk to Usagi. Seiya says, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to decieve you. I can't tell you all the details but one day I'm certain we can understand each other."
In 194 there is more evidence when Seiya hangs up the phone after trying to call Usagi when Kakyuu grabs Seiya's attention. She asks Seiya "Do you use that appearence on Earth. Seiya confirms this by saying "Oh, this was more convient to find that one lady we were looking for."
There's more proof that they're gender neutral with Minako saying that theyr're actually girls, also in 199 they protect Sailor Moon by changing into shooting stars to attack Galaxia. They however in a couple moments are shot back out and an explosion occurs. Including in Seiya's prolouge which is posted below, then Taiki's and Yaten's...

The stars, the galaxy, the universe... It's no use, I can't write one line.
Since coming to Earth, I've looked at lots of different poems. But there are many poems which entrust their hope to the stars... I can't do that. Because I remember my home that is no more.

Oh, so boring... Classes are boring, lessons are boring. I'm sick of being surrounded by girls. "I love you," without even meeting me or talking to me, with no shame, they say that often. If my looks are good, is that enough? That's why I can't have faith in the people of Earth, not one of them...

Anime difference: In the anime, as I mentioned, the three lights gained male bodies on Earth. This was to find their princess, due to the fact in the late 90's and even now in 2012. The point of them taking on male bodies was to find their princess as soon as possible and male. They took on these male forms since boy bands would help attract more girls. Naoko was mad about the change. I see it as why did they make them male civillians? Techinally with Seiya ACTUALLY being a girl and loving Usagi was no different from Haruka loving Michiru. They could've just left Seiya, Taiki and Yaten as females who crossed dressed like the magna.
Magna: In the manga, the three lights only dressed as men so making them cross dressers. The lights had the same objective-find their princess! Unlike in the anime, the Starlights die in the battle with Galaxia. In the anime they go through four episodes of not dying and protect Usagi like Makoto wanted when she was dying from her star seed being taken. Also in the manga it seems Taiki and Yaten act differently, they aren't rude to Usagi in one act they actually bring her to their apartment and Kakyuu explains what happening with Galaxia. In the manga, by the time Usagi was at the three lights apartement all of her friends Sailor Crystals were gone and when the battle with Galaxia started they were all puppets. Anyhow, yes the light just crossed dressed in the manga but in the anime took on male forms.
Is Seiya A Lesbian?
Yes, Seiya is techinally a lesbian. Due to the fact senshi can only be woman and Minako saying the three lights are girls well Seiya is techinally a lesbian. Near the last couple of episodes, Fighter protects Sailor Moon a lot. But lets take a look a first some of the other episodes:
In 184, Seiya wants to be Usagi's bodyguard since all her family is gone. Minako says when the inners are in the kitchen cooking Minako says "I won't let you two take a bath together!" And Usagi seems a little neverous to answer the question.
In 188, Seiya says on the plane "I don't know what you're talking about, don't worry whatever happens I'll protect you." When Siren reveals she's on the plane, Seiya transforms into Fighter leaving Usagi shocked and Fighter tells her "I'd said I'd protect you no matter what happened."
In 189 (as I said above), Seiya is thinking about Usagi and apolgizes in the dark, Yaten and Taiki come in the room and Yaten says that Seiya is worried about Usagi and Seiya says "What was that?" Yaten only says it's the truth Taiki orders the two to stop then Yaten says that Seiya's confusing the image of Sailor Moon with their princess Taiki says you only know we have one princess, don't you? Seiya doesn't reply. Usagi and Seiya have a little moment where they're saying one day they can understand each other. Usagi apolgizes that she can't understand Seiya's situation before that Seiya apoglizes for deciving her and says she didn't mean to. Seiya thanks Usagi for coming to the radio show but then outside Sailor Lead Crow shows up and Seiya wants to go help but Yaten stops Seiya and Taiki says "Let her go!" However, when Nyanko is about to attack Sailor Moon with her weapon (the only enemy to do so) Seiya protects Sailor Moon.
In 190, Seiya says at the start of the episode that she'll stop seeing her. But later in the episode, Seiya invites Usagi to see their live show when she does Seiya sends a message to her through the song "Shooting Stars" and after thinks "Did you get it, Dumpling?" then collapses on stage. It's stated that Taiki and Yaten put Seiya on a bench with a towel then when the ambulence arrives Taiki turns around and see's Seiya's missing. Seiya has the flashback of her words earlier in the episode and then says "I want to see her." Usagi see's Seiya and says her name and Seiya falls to the ground, Usagi runs over and helps Seiya up asking "Are you okay?" Then a phage shows up and attacks Seiya wants to transform (probably to protect Usagi) but instead Usagi transforms saying Seiya is too hurt to do so. She protects Seiya and soon the Outers come in and help. After the fight, Haruka, Michiru and Setsuna keep Usagi away from Seiya. Setsuna says "You said you wouldn't see her anymore!" Yaten butts in and says "She came here to see Seiya." Usagi confirms that's true but Haruka then says they can protect this planet and Taiki says please do so and Seiya thanks Usagi for coming again.
In 193, Seiya comes to Usagi's house at night and Usagi calls Seiya weird for coming to her house but Seiya says it's just nice to see her smiling face. Usagi blushes then calls her odd. Later in the episode, Seiya comes to the school fair like promised but then Yaten and Taiki come to get the incense burner from Chibi-Chibi. Makoto prevents this then the rest of the group comes outside and Taiki says "I hope you didn't come here to see her." And Seiya replies "Is it wrong?" In the same episode when Sailor Lead Crow is there Fighter yells at the animate "Stay away from her!" and when Sailor Moon surrenders her star seed Fighter is the only Starlight to yell "STOP IT!" But Chibi-Chibi then erases the black hole that Lead Crow created and died in.
Also, in 194 when Seiya is at the three lights hang out/apartment place Seiya is singing to Princess Kakyuu and dreams about Kinmoku BEFORE Galaxia got to it and it shows Fighter holding Kakyuu's hand but then Usagi's image go's over Kakyuu's and the vision stops with a wide eyed Seiya. Seiya leaves when Taiki and Yaten arrive to try to call Usagi but she's sleeping. At school the next day when Nyanko attacks on the roof to get Usagi's star seed she transform into Sailor Moon. Later, a rose is thrown and hits Nyanko...Sailor Moon thinks it's Tuxedo Mask but then it reveals Seiya who says "If you hurt that girl, I won't forgive you." Nyanko says "That's funny, what can you do?" Seiya transforms into Fighter and attacks Nyanko then Sailor Moon takes her tier out and heals half of Nyanko and she leaves in her telephone booth. Sailor Moon collapses and Fighter can see she hurt the other girl. The next part we see Usagi has a huge break down and saying how she wants to see Mamoru but Seiya asks "Am I not good enough?" Making Usagi good wide-eyed and Usagi's friends looking at her and Seiya and Usagi is still in awe.
In 195, it starts off with Usagi thinking about Seiya's words "Am I not good enough?" and Seiya's thinking the same but before, Usagi also admits here to Rei she hasn't gotten one reply from Mamoru and as Ami expected Mamoru never arrived in America. While, Chibi-Chibi and Usagi are going to the final concert of the three lights. The two have a run in with Haruka and Michiru and Haruka says she hopes that Usagi isn't going to see them and Michiru confirms that Usagi has Mamoru but Usagi says she has other people she loves. In the dressing room when Seiya asks for private time and says that "What I said yesterday, I meant it." Usagi says "Seiya I actually..." and Seiya says "Don't feel bad I'm in a one sided love." Seiya then says after the final concert she'll carry Usagi away and Usagi is actually blushing and Seiya admits that she feel in love with Usagi without realizing it and says she wanted to admit her feelings since Seiya's time is short. Usagi says "Seiya!" But Seiya says "Now I can do the final concert with all my might!" Usagi says "I'm sorry." and Seiya says "You don't need to apolgize, Dumpling." And then kisses Usagi on the cheek as tears fall down Usagi's face Seiya tells her "I wish I had met you earlier, Dumpling." Usagi's crying then says "Seiya."
In 197 when Galaxia shoots her braclet rays at Sailor Moon Fighter jumps in front of Sailor Moon to protect her. Also, when Sailor Moon wakes up in the production office of Galaxy T.V. Healer says "Without the light of hope we can't Galaxia." Saturn then says "That not true." She then turns to Fighter and asks "Do you like Sailor Moon?" and Fighter replies "Yes, I do." Saturn is admitted she's happy and she asks Fighter to believe in their princess.
Also in 198 after Galaxia walks off when Uranus is about to do her World Shaking attack Fighter gets in front of Sailor Moon with her Star Yell ready to protect her also after what Uranus adresses as the Starlights and Sailor Moon's "nap" she and Neptune combined their attacks. The building explodes and Maker is the first to fall, then Healer and then you see Fighter holding onto Sailor Moon. Once the two landed Sailor Moon says "Fighter?" to see if she's alright and Fighter replies "Are you okay?" Sailor Moon nods and Figther replies "Thank god." Then before Uranus and Neptune attempt to take Galaxia's star seed Fighter is standing in the middle of Sailor Moon possibly to protect her the most while Maker is on her right and Healer on the left.
When Neptune and Uranus die in the same episode, Fighter says to Uranus "If you leave, what will happen to Sailor Moon?" Uranus asks Fighter, "Fight, what you're trying to protect isn't the future, peace and space is it?" Uranus doesn't give Fighter the time to answer and says "From now on, you want to protect her." Then Michiru and Haruka fade away. The next edvience is when Fighter stands in front of Sailor Moon holding up her Star Yell after Sailor Moon says "Once again my important friends are gone!" and Galaxia says "The remaining star seeds are yours. I'll praise you by taking your star seeds with my own hands." This is that moment when Fighter pushes Sailor Moon to Maker and ready to shout her attack.
In 199, after Sailor Moon says that Galaxia and her can both understand each other Galaxia replies "Understand each other?" and aims it at Sailor Moon Fighter picks Sailor Moon and Chibi Chibi Moon up and lands after that Sailor Moon smiles and says "Fighter" recieving a smile from Fighter herself. Also, after the Starlights attack Galaxia she tells them the sin for hurting her is death, then Sailor Moon brings up the subject if you shed red blood when you're hurt and she's sure they can understand each other Galaxia slaps Sailor Moon up the face and Fighter gets up and catches Sailor Moon and then falls down again. And when Sailor Moon pulls out her Tier Fighter calls her "Princess" and in her song she reffers to Usagi as her second princess. After, Galaxia breaks the tier and says nobody can defeat her and she comes to Sailor Moon with her sword and says "die!" Fighter then jumps in and gets shocked Sailor Moon says "Fighter!" and Fighter says "I won't let you...this girl...I will protect this girls shine even if it means my life!" and in the back you can see Sailor Moon smile at the comment. After the comment, Maker and Healer both say "Fighter," seeing that their leader loves Sailor Moon. Galaxia then starts a big explosion with her sword and once again, Fighter is protecting Sailor Moon by standing right in front of her while Maker and Healer stand in the front. After Galaxia asking does everyone want to jump in front of her blade and die Maker and Healer comment then Fighter says "I like your shine till the very end." Sailor Moon replies "Fighter?" and then Fighter confirms they can leave her with their hopes. The Starlights come back after they attack Galaxia she then yells holding her sword toward Sailor Moon once again "The final blow!" and you can see Fighter standing then in the back is Sailor Moon so once again she's protecting her "crush" but then Sailor Moon jumps out and protects Fighter, Maker and Healer but standing directly in front of Fighter. While Sailor Moon's star seed is trying to release it's energy as Maker adresses it she's still standing in front of Fighter. Galaxia takes Sailor Moon's star seed the first one to yell is Fighter then seeing she's dead for a short amount of time Fighter is the first one crying while Healer only says "How terrible" and Maker says "even if we work together, why can't we defeat her?"
In 200, the very last episode mostly Sailor Moon fights after Sailor Moon accepts the shine from Sailor Comos and recieves a sword but doesn't take it right away Fighter is the only one to yell "Sailor Moon!" while she's falling. In this episode, the Starlights don't do much. At the end when Sailor Moon or should I say Usagi gets her friends back she has a little reuinion with her friends in the sky and the Starlights get their princess back. The next part shows the lights and inners on the roof Seiya tells Usagi "I'll never forget you." and being Usagi she says "Yes, we'll be friends forever!" Not getting it, Yaten and Taiki laugh along with their princess and everyone is poking fun at Usagi. Before officially leaving Seiya tells Mamoru "From here on out, protect her!" and Mamoru is silent for a second and then says "Just kidding, that's some line from a cocky bastard." and Mamoru replies "I understand." The Starlights offically leave Earth. At the exact end there is some evidence Usagi picked up on what Seiya was saying she asks "Mamo-chan, do you love me?" and Mamoru says "Yeah." and Usagi asks "Really?" and Mamoru replies "Yeah." again then Usagi asks "How much?" and Mamoru says "Why so suddenly?" and Usagi repeats "How much?" and Mamoru says "It feels great being with you." But when Usagi is asking "How much?" she's blushing, I think she's think about Fighter/Seiya.

Also in the manga, Seiya kisses Usagi twice once on the lips and on her hand. Yaten asks Seiya at one point "Why do you like her?" Seiya replies "She reminds me of her." Incidating Usagi looks like her princess. Seiya even sings for Usagi in manga twice and the two hang out of the roof top when doing that.
